GPFA Single Topic Meeting Series: Implementation of T+1 settlement cycle in North America and impact to securities lending recalls

Tuesday, 9 April 2024

Simon Turcotte, a Securities Finance Trader, from Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec will lead an interactive discussion on the pending transition to T+1 across the North American markets to understand how beneficial owners are adjusting their recall management processes. This discussion may be more relevant for those beneficial owner directly lending their assets, however, all are welcome to join to listen and learn. Some questions that will be discussed are:

  • How are members planning on sending and receiving recalls?

  • Do they expect to stop using recall emails by the end of May 2024?

  • Will they use 1 or multiple vendor(s)?

  • Do they anticipate having outliers among their counterparties for which they will need an alternative recall messaging process? If so, what’s the alternative they foresee using?

  • While formal guidance from the RMA is still due, what cut-off are members comfortable using for T recalls?
